Every year at the onset of winter a dedicated crew of volunteers and patrollers work their way across the Highland Bowl in a methodical fashion. Their aim is to disturb snowpack in such an absolute way to mitigate avalanche risk. Despite trying a myriad of tools and techniques, the most practical way of managing this terrain is raw labor walking up and down the mountain for several weeks.
Highland Bowl is an ungroomed, experts only inbounds ski area with a high point is just shy of 12,500ft.
